THE PROCESS

Preserve your family photographs simply and carefully.

Whether you have one damaged favourite or a whole box of family memories tucked away in a cupboard, we want the process to feel simple, thoughtful and reassuring.

From your first enquiry to finished digital files, restored photographs, prints, framed pieces or story books, we’ll guide you through each step and agree the best approach before anything begins.

You don’t need to have everything organised. You don’t need to know exactly what you want. Just start by telling us what you have.

How it works

A careful process, guided from
start to finish.

First step

Tell us what you have

Start by getting in touch and telling us a little about your photographs, slides, negatives or albums.

You can send a message through the website, email us a few quick snapshots of the items you’d like help with, or tell us roughly what you have during a phone call.

You might come to us with:

  • A single damaged photograph you would like restored
  • A handful of favourite photographs to preserve digitally
  • A box of old family prints that need scanning
  • Albums with captions, notes or family history inside
  • Slides or negatives that have not been viewed for years
  • Photographs you would like reprinted, framed or turned into a story book

At this stage, we are simply trying to understand what you have and what you would like to happen next.

Advice & quote

We recommend the best approach

Once we understand your collection and what you would like to achieve, we’ll recommend the most suitable approach and provide a guide price or quote.

Some families simply want everything digitised so it is safely preserved and easier to share. Others want to choose a few meaningful images for restoration, reprinting or framing. Some want help organising a larger archive, creating copies for relatives, or turning photographs and memories into a legacy story book.

We’ll help you choose the option that best fits your photographs, your budget and the way you would like to enjoy them.

We may ask about:

  • What type of items you have
  • Roughly how many photographs, slides, negatives or albums are involved
  • Whether any images need restoration
  • Whether you are interested in prints, framing or boxed reprints
  • Whether you are considering a legacy story book
  • How you would prefer to get the originals to us
  • Any important dates or timeframes
Nothing begins until we have agreed the next step with you.

Your originals

Getting your originals to us

Your originals are treated as the irreplaceable items they are.

If you are local to us, we may be able to arrange collection or drop-off by appointment. For clients further away, we will usually ask you to send your originals using a secure tracked postal service.

Before you send anything, we’ll talk through the most suitable option for your project.

When your photographs arrive with us, we’ll let you know they are safely here and confirm the next stage.

4

Careful work

We carefully digitise, restore or prepare your images

Once we have your originals, we begin the agreed work.

Depending on your project, this may include:

  • Careful scanning and digitisation of printed photographs
  • Digitising suitable slides or negatives
  • Preserving album pages, captions and handwritten notes
  • Creating high-quality digital files
  • Basic image correction where appropriate
  • Careful restoration of selected faded, marked or damaged photographs
  • Preparing chosen images for print, framing or design work
Restoration is always carried out on a digital copy. Your original photograph is not physically altered.

We understand that family photographs are often irreplaceable, so every project is approached personally and with care — whether it is one treasured portrait or a much larger family archive.

5

Finished pieces

We create any finished pieces

If your project includes prints, framed photographs, boxed reprints or a legacy story book, we’ll work with you to shape the finished result.

This may include choosing favourite images, checking captions or notes, discussing frame and mount options, preparing images for print, or designing a story book layout.

For design-led pieces such as story books, we’ll provide a proof for you to review before anything is produced. This gives you the chance to check wording, layout, image choices and overall feel.

Finished pieces may include:

  • Restored prints
  • Framed photographs
  • Boxed reprints
  • Duplicate copies for family members
  • Legacy story books
  • Keepsakes created from selected images and memories

Our aim is to create something that feels thoughtful, personal and worth keeping.

6

Returned safely

You receive everything back safely

When the work is complete, we’ll arrange payment and return everything to you in the agreed format.

Depending on your project, you may receive:

  • High-resolution digital files
  • Restored digital versions of selected photographs
  • USB storage or digital download
  • Prints or boxed reprints
  • Framed pieces ready to display
  • Legacy story books
  • Your original photographs, slides, negatives or albums returned safely

Your originals will be returned along with any physical items ordered, either in person or by secure post, depending on what we have agreed.

Your newly preserved photographs are then ready to keep, share with family and enjoy again for years to come.
